Punjab govt releases Rs343 million in relief funds for victims of Indian attacks

The Punjab government has issued compensation funds for the victims of Indian attacks in Pakistan during the military conflict between the two countries. The aid was approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to the home department, the funds have been handed over to the Deputy Commissioners of 14 affected districts for distribution to the heirs of the martyred and injured individuals.
A total of Rs343 million in relief funds has been transferred to the Asaan (Easy) Assignment Accounts of the respective Deputy Commissioners. The funds have been categorised into three groups that include martyrs, seriously injured, and slightly injured.
Under the compensation plan, the heirs of martyrs will receive Rs10 million each, seriously injured individuals will receive Rs2 million, and those with minor injuries will receive Rs1 million.
The government has directed that the distribution of relief funds be carried out in a transparent manner. To ensure this, the eligibility of each recipient will be thoroughly verified prior to disbursement.

Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to distribute the relief money only to the rightful beneficiaries and legal heirs of the martyrs and prevent any payments to unauthorised third parties.
It has been directed that authorities shouls maintain official records, including the details of the martyrs and injured individuals, along with proof of cheque distribution.
The provincial government also emphasised the confidentiality of all personal information related to the victims and their families. Distribution of the relief package must be carried out in accordance with the final list issued by the Home Department.
Furthermore, Deputy Commissioners were required to submit a detailed report on the distribution process to the Home Department.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, the 14 affected districts include Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Attock, Murree, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Gujrat, Sialkot, Khanewal, Okara, and Rawalpindi.
