The Punjab government has imposed complete ban on outdoor drone flights across the province for the next 30 days, citing public safety and security concerns.
The order was issued under Section 144(6) of the CCP, after fears that unregulated aircraft could threaten both people and property.
According to the notification, increasing and uncontrolled drone use in Punjab poses potential risks to public safety, could obstruct official duties and disturb public order.
Under the ban, all outdoor drone operations are prohibited for 30 days from the date of issuance or until the order is lifted early. However, small drones used indoors for event coverage, such as in halls or marquees, are exempted, provided that organizers ensure safe operation within confined spaces.
However, the restriction does not apply to intelligence and law enforcement agencies, which are permitted to continue drone operations outdoors for official purposes.
Officials claim that the measure is a necessary step to maintain peace and prevent any unwanted incidents linked to aerial devices, especially given recent security challenges throughout the region.
