Authorities in Punjab have issued an alert for the tenth spell of the monsoon season, warning of heavy rainfall and the potential risk of flash flooding.
According to the weather advisory, strong downpours are likely in various parts of the province. Overflowing rivers and streams could trigger flash floods, particularly in low-lying and vulnerable areas.
Officials have urged residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during the spell, and stay updated on weather alerts. Rescue teams and local administrations have also been placed on high alert to respond to any emergency situation.
The flood situation across Punjab remains alarming, with dangerously high water levels reported in major rivers.
At Ganda Singh Wala in the Sutlej River, water flow has surged to 327,000 cusecs, creating a “very high flood” situation. Similarly, Sulemanki and Islam Headworks are also facing severe flooding. In Bahawalpur, riverine areas in four tehsils have been inundated following breaches in multiple dams.

The Ravi River is also in high flood. At Head Sadhanai, a very high flood has been recorded, while at Head Balloki, the inflow has reached 138,760 cusecs. The Chenab River has also risen significantly at Khanki, Head Qadirabad, and Chiniot.
In Multan, a breach in the Sher Shah Dam caused sudden flooding, leaving residents with little time to evacuate. Several localities were submerged after water levels in the Shujaabad Canal near Qasim Bela rose to three times its capacity, causing overflow.
Meanwhile, the Sikandri drain has begun to take in excess floodwater, heightening risks for urban populations. Pressure on the Akbar Flood Dam remains critical, with Akbarpur, Basti Kotwal, and surrounding settlements now underwater.
Authorities have warned residents in low-lying and vulnerable areas to remain alert as floodwaters continue to spread.
