The office of the Ombudsman in Punjab has purchased 12 high-end mobile phones, including seven iPhones 15 Pro Max and five Samsung S24 Ultra, worth Rs7.6 million to deal with "complicated information", sources confirmed on Friday.
The matter came to light after an invoice for the purchase was shared online.
According to the invoice, the luxury mobile phones were purchased on May 2 this year.
The sales tax invoice showed the purchase of 12 mobile phones worth Rs7,687,380.56 from a local shop in Lahore.
The Samsung S24 Ultra was bought at a price of Rs444,734.00 and iPhone 15 pro max for Rs613,084.47, as per the invoice.
Talking to Geo News, media advisor at the office of the Ombudsperson Punjab Abdul Basit Khan confirmed the purchase, saying that the phones were needed to handle "complicated information" from overseas through their management information system.
"However, Khan did not elaborate on the kind of complicated information" which required high-end phones," the publication said in it's report.
