Quetta is gearing up to host a three-day Basant kite-flying festival from February 13 to 15, after its revival in Lahore.

According to media reports, streets including Gardesingh Road, Prince Road, Alamdar Road, Kasi Road, Sirki Road, Jan Muhammad Road, Sabzal Road, Nawa Kali, Brohi Road, Jail Road and Liaquat Bazaar have seen increased shopping activity, related to basant, as excitement builds ahead of the festivities.

Organizers say the event will feature kite flying, cultural performances, music and food stalls, offering family-friendly entertainment. Citizens expressed optimism that the festival will strengthen community bonds in a city that faces daily challenges. A resident claimed that the celebrations would “spread happiness and social harmony.” 

Authorities in Quetta have urged participants to observe peaceful and safe celebration practices, emphasizing on precautions to prevent any tragedy during the festivities.
