The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that rain coupled with thunderstorm and strong winds will hit parts of Karachi today (June 22).
However, the weather in the port city is likely to remain hot and humid during the next 24 hours, the Met office added.
According to PMD, the thundershowers are expected to lash Karachi in the evening or night of Saturday.
The lowest temperature in the metropolis was recorded at 30.5°C, while the mercury is expected to fluctuate between 36°C and 38°C in Karachi today.
A day earlier, parts of Karachi received light showers, easing the scorching temperature in the megalopolis.
The areas that witnessed drizzle included North Karachi, New Karachi, North Nazimabad, Garden, Lyari, Saddar, old city areas and Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
However, the first monsoon spell is likely to hit Karachi in the first week of July, as per Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz.
The weatherman had also predicted "more than normal" rains in Sindh including Karachi during the monsoon spell.
