Punjab minister Azma Bukhari has criticized the KP government for failing to announce or begin distribution of its Ramadan relief package, saying the KP government is more focused on other issues than supporting deserving families ahead of the holy month.
In a statement from Lahore, Bukhari contrasted Punjab’s ongoing ‘Ramadan Nigahban package’, which she said is being distributed successfully to eligible households based on merit, as compared to the situation in KP.
Speaking to media, Bukhari claimed that KP government have not formally announced their relief program. She accused the provincial leadership of prioritizing unrelated matters over timely support for the needy.
“They seem more concerned with personal issues than ensuring welfare for the public,” she said.
Bukhari pointed out that last year too, KP’s Ramadan package was reportedly distributed based on lists given by party leaders rather than through a transparent needs‑based process.
She highlighted that under Punjab’s program, low‑income families, including minority communities, are receiving separate dedicated support, and that the province has also established special markets and initiatives to stabilize prices and make essentials more affordable during Ramadan.
Bukhari urged other provinces to accelerate their distribution efforts so that the poorest citizens can receive help without delay in the holy month.
