The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet on Friday (June 7) in Karachi for the Zil Hajj moon sighting.

The committee’s Chairman Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad will preside over the the meeting at the Meteorological Department office in the metropolis.

On the other hand, Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) predicted that the moon for the month of Zil Hajj is expected to be sighted on June 7 (Friday) in the country.

The day of Eid ul Adha is likely to fall on June 17 in Pakistan, according to the Met office.

The moon sighting will mark the start of the holy month of Hajj, the month when Muslims from around the world visit Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj in Makkah's Grand Mosque and other locations in the city including Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah.

After performing the sacred pilgrimage the on Day of Arafat, the ninth day of Hajj, Muslims across the globe will celebrate Eid ul Adha on the 10th day of Zil Hajj.

The astronomers in Saudi Arabia said that Arafat day will fall on June 15 in Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom is expected to mark Eid ul Adha on June 16.
