The government of Sindh has announced that in observance of Youm-e-Ali (RA), all educational institutions in the province will remain closed on April 1 (Monday).
Both public and private schools and colleges will remain closed, as per an official notification issued by the government.
The notification, issued by the School Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, cites the decision made in a meeting of the Sub Committee of Steering Committee held on November 13, 2023, which received approval from the competent authority. It declares April 1, 2024, as a holiday in honor of Youm-e-Hazrat Ali (RA).
Youm-e-Ali falls on the 21st of Ramadan each year, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA). It is traditionally marked by large processions throughout the country.
Additionally, it is anticipated that the Sindh government will declare a public holiday on April 4 to commemorate the death anniversary of former prime minister and founder of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
