Authorities conducted a thorough search operation in and around the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium ahead of the resumption of the 10th edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), which had earlier been halted due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

The disruption followed a drone strike originating from India, which targeted the stadium before a scheduled fixture between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings. The match was postponed after the drone fell within the stadium complex, raising serious security concerns.

In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to conclude the remaining matches of the league in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Foreign players were flown to the UAE via a chartered flight under the security cover of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

However, the situation shifted dramatically following Pakistan’s military operation, Bunyanum Marsoos. During the operation, India reportedly suffered significant setbacks, including the damage to multiple military assets, military airbases, and several aircrafts.

The conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbors eventually de-escalated after international intervention, culminating in a ceasefire.

Following the truce, it was agreed that the remaining PSL matches would be held in Pakistan from May 17 to May 25.

Ahead of the tournament’s revival, security forces carried out an extensive search operation around the Rawalpindi stadium. All shops in the vicinity were temporarily closed during the operation, which involved personnel from the police, civil defense, and other law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of players, officials, and spectators.
