Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has termed the accountability of former DG ISI Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed as a positive development, calling for all those who have caused harm to the country to be brought to justice.
Speaking to journalists after an event in Karachi, Shahid Afridi said that although it was not his place to comment, he was pleased to see Faiz Hameed and other officers being held accountable.
He stated that it was encouraging to see the Pakistan Army initiating the accountability process from within its own ranks, adding that anyone who has damaged the country should also be held answerable.
Shahid Afridi said that the army belongs to him as well, and he is proud of the Pakistan Army.
Commenting on the addition of two new franchises in the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the former captain said the expansion was a positive step as it would provide more players with opportunities.
He added that the PSL is Pakistan’s own brand and that the roadshows are clear evidence of its growing popularity.
Looking ahead, Shahid Afridi said that there is no longer a need for further experimentation in the national cricket team.
He stressed that the squad should now be finalized for the World Cup, stating that he personally does not support frequent changes in the team during series ahead of the mega event.
Responding to a question about Pakistani cricketers’ participation in the Big Bash League, Afridi said it was a good opportunity as it would help players gain valuable experience.
