SHC halts admissions in medical colleges

The Sindh High Court (SHC) Wednesday issued a stay order on admissions in medical colleges and ordered the MDCAT authority not to display the merit list until further notice.
The high court issued orders during a hearing on a petition regarding irregularities in the MDCAT 2024 test held recently across the country.
In its orders, the court stated that no institution should initiate the admissions process. I
t directed the government to form a committee to impose criminal and civil liability, and the committee must complete the investigation of all allegations within 15 days.
The court also noted that the committee could seek support from any institution and request records from the universities conducting the test and the PMDC.
The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2024 was conducted at two centers in Karachi, namely Dow University of Health Sciences Ojha Campus and NED University.
In addition to Karachi, the exam was also held at various centers across Sindh, including Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in Jamshoro, Bilawal Sports Complex in Shaheed Benazirabad, the PTS in Larkana, and IBA Public School in Sukkur.
