Sindh announces advance salary, pension disbursement before Eid-al-Adha

The Government of Sindh has directed that salaries and pensions for government employees be released by 20 May ahead of Eid al-Adha.

According to an official notification, all provincial government employees and pensioners will receive their payments before Eid to facilitate financial preparations for the religious festival.

The notification further instructed relevant departments and institutions to complete all necessary arrangements in a timely manner to ensure that salaries and pensions are disbursed without delay.

The move is expected to provide relief to thousands of employees and pensioners across Sindh ahead of the Eid holidays.

Experts in Pakistan have given an early estimate for the likely date of Eid-ul-Azha, suggesting that the festival could fall on May 27, 2026.

According to Khalid Ijaz Mufti, Secretary General of the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, the likely date is based on scientific calculations indicating that the moon of Zul Hijjah 1447 Hijri is expected to be born on the night between May 16 and 17 at around 1:15am.

He said that by the evening of May 17, the moon will be old enough to be visible across different parts of the country.

The experts said that in cities, including Karachi and Peshawar, the moon is expected to remain visible in the sky for some time after sunset, increasing the chances of sighting.
