Sindh Senior Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced drug testing for school children in response to a concerning rise in drug suppliers targeting young people.

While speaking to journalists in Karachi, Memon stated that the police apprehended an infamous drug supplier from Clifton a few days ago.

He maintained that drug trafficking can not be tackled single-handedly, but a major operation to curb the menace is currently underway in the province.

In a recent joint operation, Sindh Rangers and police apprehended a notorious drug dealer with close ties to Lyari gang war criminal Kashif Dada.

Authorities recovered 51 grams of hashish, a mobile phone, and cash during the arrest of a suspect who admitted to taking orders from "Dada," as per reports.

In April, the law enforcement carried out anti-narcotics operations in several districts of Sindh.

Scores of  drug peddlers were detained in the crackdown by Excise Narcotics Control and Police in Karachi, Hyedrabad, Badin, Thatta, Tando Allahyar, Jamshoro and other districts.

During a high-level emergency meeting in Hyderabad amidst the crackdown, Sharjeel Memon expressed deep concern over the alarming rise of ice and the use of other drugs in educational institutions.

The senior minister emphasised the need for a more robust investigation process to dismantle drugs supply chain.
