Amidst the predicted heatwave in Sindh, several areas are facing a shortage of water supply due to unannounced load shedding, officials said.
The Water and Sanitation Authority (Wasa) blamed power distribution companies for their inability to ensure the supply of water.
The officials believed that load shedding disturbed the water supply for residents of Hyderabad, a city that requires around 130 million gallons per day during peak summer.
However, the department only has the ability to provide 70-75 million gallons per day to the city.
On the other hand, weather conditions also impose impacts on the shortage of water.
Ghulam Murtaza Arain, Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR), said that heatwave conditions increase water evapotranspiration, which produces a conducive environment for bacterial growth anywhere.
