Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon emphasized on Tuesday that the government is open to dialogue with bandits under the condition that they surrender to the rule of law.
He was speaking to the media following a law-and-order meeting in Sukkur chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari, which extensively discussed operations against bandits.
Memon stated that the meeting conveyed a clear message: bandits must surrender and engage in dialogue with the government. He emphasized that apart from legal action, no excesses would be tolerated against them.
"The government is willing to engage in dialogue only with those bandits who have not committed serious crimes and are willing to disarm according to the law," Memon asserted.
Furthermore, it was decided that arrested bandits would also be given the opportunity to repent.
Memon also announced the formation of reconciliation committees to resolve tribal feuds peacefully. He lamented the loss of innocent lives in such conflicts and expressed hope that tribal leaders would be encouraged to guide their communities towards a lawful path.
It is to be noted that the katcha area of Sindh province in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kandhkot, Kashmore, Ghotki, Shikarpur are making headlines due to increasing activities of the dacoits.
