A powerful explosion caused by a gas leakage in a residential building in Soldier Bazaar, resulted in multiple casualties at the scene.

According to rescue officials, the blast occurred at the first floor of a three-story building in Gul Rana Colony in Soldier Bazaar and caused part of the building to collapse.

Reports confirm ten people dead and more than a dozen seriously injured. The injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police stated that the explosion was possibly from a gas cylinder or a gas-suction machine. However, investigation into the exact cause of the blast is underway.

“Police cordoned off the area and tightened security, while rescue agencies initiated a search and rescue operation,” said the police spokesperson.

According to reports, rescue workers faced difficulty reaching trapped victims due to narrow streets surrounding the building, which slowed heavy machinery access.

Rescue officials claim that all available resources were being used to locate survivors, as at least two people were feared to be still trapped beneath the rubble. The death toll could rise as search operations continue.
