A judicial magistrate in Karachi granted bail to all six suspects involved in the attack on a polio vaccination team in Korangi district on Friday.
The court issued bail against surety bonds of Rs 10,000 each, citing that the charges against the suspects were bailable.
The suspects, including four women, were produced in court on Saturday. They were accused of physically attacking the polio workers and snatching their mobile phones during the incident.
Police said the suspects had refused to allow their children to receive polio drops, which led to an altercation.
The women reportedly attacked the polio team in anger, and the suspects also allegedly tore the uniforms of the police officers present.
The police registered a case at the Korangi police station and informed the court that two police officers and two polio workers sustained minor injuries during the attack. The injured individuals were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The incident occurred when the polio team visited a family in Korangi to administer vaccinations. Upon arrival, the family members, including both men and women, physically assaulted the team members with sticks.
The authorities responded promptly, deploying additional police personnel to the scene, which led to the arrest of six individuals—Samina, Mahjabeen, Amna, Iqra, Imran, and Sufiyan.
The court also directed the investigating officer to submit the case challan within 14 days.
