At least ten people were injured when an elevator fell inside a residential building in Karachi’s Kharadar area.

According to SHO Kharadar Poon Kumar, the incident occurred near Achhi Qabar, Bombay Bazaar, within the limits of Kharadar Police Station.

The elevator of a seven-storey residential building, City Mall, was descending from the upper floor toward the ground floor when, due to a possible technical malfunction, its belt snapped, causing the lift to crash down.

As a result, ten residents inside the elevator sustained injuries. Upon receiving the report, police and rescue teams immediately reached the scene.

The injured were rescued from the lift and shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi via rescue ambulances.

The SHO stated that all the injured suffered minor injuries and their condition is out of danger.

All those injured are residents of the same building, which houses shops on the ground floor and residential units on the upper floors.
