Pakistan has approved bidding documents for outsourcing the Islamabad International Airport to a Turkish company on a technical basis, said sources on Tuesday.
The bid has been submitted to the Pakistan Airports Authority headquarters in Karachi, which is currently being scrutinised.
The offer will be presented before the authority's Board of Directors in a meeting scheduled for Monday.
According to sources, if the board approves the offer, the airport will be handed over to the Turkish company.
The government also plans to seek Federal Cabinet approval for the outsourcing, with Secretary of Aviation Ahsan Mangi informing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about the tender.
Two other companies made the offer, but they were excluded from the process due to delays in submitting their bidding documents.
The outsourcing process is being supervised by the Secretary of Aviation. The government also planned to outsource Karachi and Lahore airports after Islamabad airport.
The decision to outsource the international airports was taken in a meeting, held in April this year.
According to the source, the government aims to enhance airport operations by outsourcing them.
The deadline for submitting bids and opening documents for Islamabad Airport's outsourcing was set for October 7.
