Two men lost their lives and another was hospitalised in critical condition after allegedly consuming contaminated food in Lahore's Hanjarwal area on Saturday.

According to police, the victims — identified as 56-year-old Muhammad Arshad and 30-year-old Muhammad Sajjad — fell unconscious shortly after eating Dahi Bhallay from a roadside cart.

Both men were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.

A third man, 24-year-old Ali Sher, also consumed the food and remains under treatment on a ventilator, officials said.

Police shifted the bodies to the morgue for post-mortem examination and launched an investigation. However, the victims’ heirs later approached the authorities and declined to lodge a case.

Officials stated that further legal proceedings would be initiated after the autopsy report is received.
