Umrah pilgrimage has become difficult for the faithful as the financial burden for the religious practice has doubled in just six months.
The price of Holy Ritual has doubled due to a massive hike in the dollar exchange rate, visa fees and other expenses.
Many people who are willing to perform Umrah in Ramadan expressed their grievances about the factors that are pushing them back from doing religious practices, even after prolonged savings.
A man, sitting inside the travel agency, said six months ago, the travel agents asked him for Rs200,000 for all the necessary requirements of Umrah.
"But now the package has doubled in six months, they have asked me to pay Rs400,000," he added.
However, the travel agents also attributed the increasing price of packages to inflation, saying "We are too affected by the increased prices."
"The number of pilgrims declined sharply, as people did not have the purchasing power, how they would perform Umrah," said the agent, adding that this resulted in a significant decrease in the number of pilgrims from 20 people per week to just five.
