After a video surfaced online showing a Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) serving tea to leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), authorities swiftly took notice of the incident.
Inspector-General (IG) Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, condemned the actions of the police officer, stating that such behavior is unacceptable.
He stated that a written explanation would be requested from the officer involved.
IG Sindh further emphasised that while this might be considered an isolated incident, the officer will be held accountable.
The video, which showed SSP Mirpurkhas Asad Chaudhry serving tea to guests while in uniform at a PPP function, garnered widespread criticism.
The exact location of the political function in the viral video remains unknown.
Critics argued that such behaviour was highly inappropriate for a police officer and "undermined public trust in the force".
They asserted that it blurred the lines of professionalism and suggested that police may be influenced by political interests.
