Six lions stranded in rising floodwaters at a farmhouse along the Ravi River bank on Multan Road were rescued in a successful operation carried out by the Wildlife Department.
According to officials, Wildlife Rangers moved quickly to prevent any threat to human lives posed by the trapped lions. The rescue operation was conducted under difficult conditions, with torrential rain adding to the challenges.
Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb commended the Wildlife Rangers and the Wildlife Rescue Force for their courage, saying they had displayed exceptional bravery in completing the mission. “The Wildlife Rangers and Rescue Force are the pride of the nation,” she said.
The operation was carried out with the help of four boats and a team of veterinary doctors, who ensured the lions were safely extracted from the flooded area.
All six animals underwent immediate medical examination, and their health continues to be monitored.
Minister Aurangzeb stressed that wildlife protection remains a top priority for the provincial government, adding: “No living being will be left alone in trouble.”
