Woman bike rider crushed to death by dumper in Karachi

A young woman bike rider was crushed to death by a dumper truck travelling behind her when she lost control of her scooty and slipped in rainwater in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi on Tuesday.

According to details, the accident took place in front of Noman Avenue within the jurisdiction of the Shahra-e-Faisal police station.

The victim’s body was transported to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) by ambulance for further legal proceedings.

The deceased bike rider was identified as 23-year-old Sara Dukhtar Iqbal. She was a resident of Shanti Nagar in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the port city.

SHO Shahra-e-Faisal Faisal Gul told the media that the deceased girl was riding a scooty on the muddy road when she lost control and fell due to rain.

Meanwhile, the dumper coming from behind crushed the girl due to which she died on the spot.

The police reached the spot and shifted the dumper to the police station after taking it into custody, while the driver of the heavy vehicle fled the crime scene.

A search for the truck driver is underway. The family members of the deceased girl reached JPMC to receive the body of their loved one.

After recording the statement of the family members, a case of accident will be registered at Shahra-e-Faisal police station, the law enforcers informed.

Another fatal accident took place in the metropolis on Monday. A woman driving an SUV collided with multiple vehicles on a nearby lane at Karsaz, killing a father and daughter and injuring four others.
