Renowned Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik stated that modest dressing prevents women from harassment, while those who wear bold, un-Islamic attire are more likely to encounter molestation.
The cleric shared a video from one of his lectures on X, where he emphasised the importance of hijab, the Islamic form of dressing for women.
In his argument, he used an example of two sisters "equally beautiful," with one wearing "complete hijab, revealing only her hands and face," while the other wore a "miniskirt with a low neckline."
The Islamic preacher continued by asking the audience to imagine these two women walking down the streets of New York or Sokoto, where a hooligan is waiting to harass someone.
"Which girl will he tease?" Dr Naik asked the crowd.
The audience responded that the woman wearing the miniskirt would be targeted by the hooligan.

He asserted that this scenario provides a simple answer to those questioning the significance of hijab.
The famed orator gained prominence through dawah and is known for organising Islamic lectures and debates across the world.
A day earlier, Dr Naik arrived in Islamabad at the invitation of the Pakistani government and is expected to reach Karachi tomorrow for a 10-day visit, during which he will meet important personalities in the city.
