Facebook and Instagram users in Pakistan and several other countries experienced service disruptions on Sunday, with many unable to access their accounts as reports of outages surged globally.
Users reported difficulties logging into Meta's platforms through both mobile applications and web browsers. Many encountered messages stating that their accounts were temporarily unavailable due to a site-related issue and advising them to try again later.
Outage-tracking website Downdetector recorded a sharp increase in reports from around 1pm Pakistan time, indicating widespread problems with Facebook services. Many affected users also took to X, formerly Twitter, to report the disruption and share their experiences.
According to Downdetector, 4,808 Facebook users in the United States had reported issues as of 0746 GMT, with 63% citing problems accessing the website. The platform also received 2,829 reports from Instagram users in the US by 0818 GMT, primarily related to the mobile application.
