NordPass, a password manager, has revealed user behaviour  regardig password creatio.

NordPass in its annual ranking of the most frequently used passwords revealed that many individuals opt for simple passwords instead of more inventive options. 

For example, individuals often select passwords that are easy to reach on a keyboard, such as the ascending number sequence found on the top row like “123456789” or simple letter patterns like “qwerty,” as reported by The Verge.

A major portion of users, when creating their passwords, do not thoroughly consider the implications of a possible data breach by cybercriminals; instead, they prefer to complete the process as quickly as they can.

The list of the most commonly used passwords by NordPass is compiled using a 2.5TB database of "publicly available resources," which includes some data from the Dark Web. 

If your password appears on this popular list, it is advisable to change it without delay.

For the fifth time out of six, NordPass revealed that "password" was the most frequently used password among users in 2022. Other commonly chosen passwords included simple sequences like ABCs, 123s, and Qwerty variations.

Additionally, some users tend to create passwords inspired by their favorite games, such as “minecraft,” or beloved cartoon characters like “pokemon” and “naruto,” as well as popular electronic brands like “samsung” and “apple.”
