PSL named world’s second most entertaining cricket league by BBC

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been ranked as the second most exciting franchise cricket league in the world by BBC Sport. The IPL ranked above the PSL with only a minor difference in performance metrics.
According to the BBC’s analysis, the PSL’s perfect balance between bat and ball, combined with high-intensity matches, has captured the hearts of cricket fans worldwide.
The league outperformed ILT20, The Hundred, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and Australia’s Big Bash League in overall excitement. Only the Indian Premier League (IPL) secured a higher ranking.
The report highlighted that PSL boasts the highest average first-innings score among all major leagues, standing at 180 runs. Remarkably, 27.5% of PSL matches were decided in the final over, compared to 28.9% in the IPL.

PSL also leads in boundary-hitting, with an average of 30 fours and 14 sixes per match. In comparison, the IPL and CPL average 15 sixes per game.
On the experience front, PSL players hold an average of 351 international caps, the second highest across all leagues, with ILT20 leading at 423 and IPL following at 335.
The BBC report noted that the PSL’s performance placed it comfortably ahead of the Big Bash League in quality and excitement. It is also among the few franchise competitions where top international stars regularly participate.
