Meta has rolled out its Teen Accounts feature in Pakistan, extending the safety tool to local users of Facebook and Messenger.
The feature, previously launched globally on Instagram, is aimed at creating a safer and more age-appropriate digital environment for teenagers. With this move, Pakistani teens will join millions worldwide already placed under Teen Accounts across Meta’s platforms.
According to Meta, the feature limits who teenagers can interact with, filters the type of content they see, and encourages healthier screen-time habits. It also introduces automatic protections designed to address parental concerns about online safety.
Meta said it will begin placing both new and existing teenage users in Pakistan into Teen Accounts as early as this week.
“Teen Account protections were designed to address parents’ top concerns … ensuring their time is well spent,” the company said in a statement.
Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, noted that the tool is meant to reassure parents. “We want parents to feel good about their teens using social media … Supporting parents and helping teens use our apps safely is a responsibility we take seriously,” he said.
The launch is part of Meta’s broader commitment to strengthen digital safety standards for young users worldwide.
