Rockstar Games has officially announced a revised release date for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), confirming the highly anticipated title will now launch on May 26, 2026.
The game was previously expected to be released sometime in 2025.
In a press release, Rockstar acknowledged the delay and attributed it to the need for additional development time to meet the studio’s quality standards.
“With every game we have released, the goal has always been to exceed your expectations,” the statement read. “Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception.”
The company also thanked fans for their continued support and patience, noting the excitement surrounding the game has been “humbling” for the team. While apologizing for the delay, Rockstar reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a high-quality gaming experience and promised to share more updates soon.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be the next entry in the long-running open-world action franchise, which last saw a major installment with the release of GTA V in 2013.
