Rockstar maintains November 2026 launch window for GTA 6

Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI remains on track for release on November 19, 2026, according to the company’s latest earnings announcement.

The company said there has been no change to the current development timeline, maintaining the previously announced release date following earlier delays. GTA VI was initially slated for launch in Fall 2025 before being postponed to May 26, 2026, and later moved to its current November 2026 release window.

Rockstar Games has said the additional development time was required to further improve the quality of the game.

Take-Two Chief Executive Officer Strauss Zelnick told IGN that marketing efforts for GTA VI are expected to begin in earnest this summer. He said the move toward upcoming marketing milestones reflects confidence in the game’s ability to meet its scheduled release date.

Rockstar Games has a long history of delaying major titles, and multiple delays for GTA VI were widely anticipated within the industry.

However, analysts note that another public delay would be unusual, as the studio has rarely postponed a title more than once after announcing a revised release date.

The game is set to launch amid high market expectations. Industry projections suggest GTA VI could sell up to 40 million copies and generate approximately $3 billion in revenue within its first year.

Analysts have also cautioned that even strong performance from the title may not fully offset broader challenges facing the video game industry.

In the same earnings report, Take-Two reported continued strong sales for its existing franchises.

Grand Theft Auto V sold an additional five million copies, bringing its total lifetime sales to 225 million units. Red Dead Redemption II added three million copies, taking its total sales to 82 million units since its release in October 2018.
