KARACHI: A six-year old boy went missing and was reportedly found raped and murdered near the Lea Market area of Karachi. The police have reported having arrested a 20 year old suspect who is also a neighbor of the victim.
According to Napier police, the dead body of the boy was recovered from Punjab Gali near Spencer’s Eye Hospital and taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for legal purposes.
Police Surgeon, Dr Summaiya Syed informed that the corpse was “decomposed” with “multiple bone injuries”.
“Samples of all kinds have been collected for sexual violence and chemical analysis,” she informed. She also said that the cause of death has been kept “reserved”.
Syed Asad Raza, DIG (South), told that even though the doctors collected samples to determine sexual assault, the accused man has confessed himself of having kidnapped the boy for this very purpose after the initial investigation.
He killed the boy and then put his body on the rooftop of his house where he later on threw him from the third floor on Tuesday night in a gunny bag which people of the locality discovered.
Local people reported the matter to police when they became aware of the matter, and before police could arrive at the scene, some locals apparently dragged the accused person from his house and beat him up. Police thereafter arrested the accused person.
According to DIG South, the accused person is an unmarried 20 year old carpenter hailing from Phool Nagar, Lahore and lived adjacent to the house of the victim's family. The victim's family was from Punjab and consisted of four sisters and the only son of their parents.
According to police, an FIR regarding the disappearance of the child was lodged at Napier Police Station on July 6 and police started their search but the boy could not be traced.
It is mentioned that late Tuesday night, police came to know that the dead body of the child has been recovered. Police arrested a person on the basis of complainant's statement and information from local people in connection with the act of disposal of the dead body.
Despite searching the neighbourhood and making announcements through local mosques, the family was unable to locate the child.
