The number of deaths in traffic accidents in Karachi has witnessed a sharp rise in 2024.

The latest data shows nearly 500 people have lost their livew in traffic accidents this year.

A tragic incident occurred near Korangi Nasser Jump recently, where a 5-month-old child, the only child of his parents born after 13 years of marriage, lost his life.

The accident happened due to the poor condition of the road.

In a conversation with the media, the father of the innocent child, Abdul Hamid, explained that the road was damaged, which caused him to lose control of his bike. His son fell from his mother's lap, and a trailer coming from behind ran over him.

The uncle of the deceased child mentioned that the shops around Korangi Road, near Nasser Jump, have occupied half of the road, while the rest of the road is in a dilapidated condition.

Local residents claim that accidents have become routine on Korangi Road, and despite restrictions during the day, traffic police allow heavy traffic on the road.

Although around 500 lives have been lost in traffic accidents this year in Karachi, no serious steps are being taken to prevent these accidents.
