Armed men assault two citizens in Karachi’s Boat Basin area

In a shocking incident, a group of armed men stopped a car and brutally assaulted two men in Karachi’s Boat Basin area. The CCTV footage of the attack, which has been circulating online, dates back to February 19.
The video showed a Toyota Surf stopping abruptly in the middle of the road and deliberately colliding with a vehicle behind it.
The victims, identified as Barkat Soomro and his friend Waqas, were on their way home at around 3 am when they gave way to the Toyota Surf.
However, the driver of the Surf allegedly hurled abuses at them before overtaking their car. Moments later, the vehicle sped ahead, reversed, and intentionally rammed into their car from the front.
Following the collision, several armed men stepped out of the Surf and viciously attacked the two victims. One of them sustained a head injury after being struck with the butt of a gun.
According to the injured victim, the assailants, who appeared to be intoxicated, threatened to kill him and his friend. The attackers, believed to be five to six in number, later fled the scene in their Toyota Surf, bearing registration number BF-3612.
Barkat Soomro, who serves as the Deputy Secretary of Information for the People’s Party Youth Organisation Karachi Division, later reported the incident to the police.
The Boat Basin police registered a case on February 21 under Sections 147, 148, 149, 324, 504, 506B, and 337A(i) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The investigation was transferred to the relevant police department.
Soomro, who works in the real estate sector and resides in PCSIR Society near Sachal Goth, stated that the suspects’ identities and place of residence remain unknown.
Investgation police launched a probe into the case.
