Karachi authorities imposed a hefty fine on underage boy driving a passenger bus in the city’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area.

Videos on social media showed a 11 or 12-year-old boy driving a passenger bus on one of DHA's roads, traffic police officials said.

Following the video went viral, Traffic police had found the vehicle from the online circulated images and fined an electronic challan of Rs50,000 to the bus owner.This is the second highest e-challan issued in Karachi, officials said.

The maximum punishment until now has been a fine of Rs 100,000 levied earlier on an owner of a dumper truck in the case of another violation.

Police said the decision was based on very serious dangers to safety by letting a minor operate a public transport vehicle.
