A disturbing surge in animal cruelty cases has been reported in Sindh, with the latest incident involving a camel's leg chopping in the village Bajeerveri, Umerkot.

The heinous act, which occurred within the Khokhrapar police station limits, has left the camel with severe leg injuries. The owner, Shaukat Rahman, described the scene as heartbreaking, with the camel writhing in agony and unable to receive timely medical attention despite repeated calls to the doctor.

Rahman alleged that the perpetrators, identified as Hoti Mungreo and Nabi Bakhsh Mangreo, deliberately targeted his camel while it was grazing in a desert field.

He expressed frustration that local reports to the Livestock Department went unheeded, with no officials visiting the site to investigate or provide assistance.

The owner emphasized the need for intensive care, including bandaging and proper medical treatment, to save the camel's life. He lamented that such incidents have become all too common in the region, citing two previous cases of camel leg mutilation in different areas of interior Sindh.

Earlier, a dead camel, with all four legs amputated, was found near Kunari Tehsil in Umerkot District of Sindh Province. According to the owner, Abdul Rasheed Kapri, the camel had been ill for some time and had gone to graze with other camel.

Ahead of Eidul Adha on June 14, a landlord, along with his employees, allegedly physically tortured a camel for straying into his land for fodder, amputating one of its legs as punishment in Sanghar's Mundh Jamrao area.
