A private women's hostel in Johar Town, Lahore, is under fire for allegations of secretly recording its residents in washrooms.

The uproar began when a student's relative lodged a complaint with the Johar Town police, accusing Ghazal Hostel's management of installing a hidden camera in the restroom to surreptitiously film residents during bathing.

This complaint prompted authorities to initiate legal action against seven individuals, including hostel owners Salim and Fouzia Salim, and multiple staff members. However, the accused individuals, identified as Saqib from Vehari, Tayyab Shahzad from Sheikhupura, Muhammad Zubair from Jhang, Irfan from Pakpattan, and Ali Hassan from Rahim Yar Khan, absconded upon learning of the police inquiry.

With over 40 female students from different Punjab cities residing in the hostel, law enforcement evacuated the premises following the incident. Presently, they are interviewing the students, who have corroborated the existence of the concealed camera in their statements.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage, prompting questions about the security protocols at private hostels and calls for stricter regulations to safeguard the privacy and safety of female occupants. The police are actively pursuing their investigation into the matter.
