College principal warned for hoisting Maryam Nawaz flag alongside national flag in Gujrat

Gujrat: The principal of a government college in Kharian tehsil has been issued a formal warning after a flag featuring Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s image was hoisted alongside Pakistan’s national flag atop the college building.

According to Deputy Director of Colleges Gujrat Shoaib Butt, the principal submitted a written explanation stating that he was inspired by Maryam Nawaz’s development initiatives in Punjab, which led him to display the flag on the premises.

In its warning letter, the Punjab Education Department termed the act “a clear case of administrative misconduct,” noting that the flag was hoisted without any official approval or notification.

The department has directed the principal to exercise caution in the future.

Videos circulating on social media showed the flag with Maryam Nawaz’s image fluttering alongside the national flag atop the Government Graduate College for Boys in Kharian.

The principal later clarified that the decision was made in his personal capacity, adding that he intended to motivate students and that there was no political motive behind the act.
