Father murders daughter for honour in Tharparkar

A heart-wrenching incident took place in Tharparkar, Mithi, on Wednesday where a father murdered his 18-year-old daughter in suspected honour killing.

The tragic incident took place in the village of Taj Mohammad Shah, located within the authority of Nagarparkar police. 

The girl, named Gori, was apparently axed by her father, Mangal Bheel, who later handed himself to the police and confessed to the heinous crime.

He told the police that he killed Gori because he suspected she had illegal relations with someone in the village, a common reason for so-called “honour” killings in rural areas. 

Even though no FIR has been formally registered, but police has still taken Bheel into custody after he made the confession.

Gori’s body was transported to the taluka hospital in Nagarparkar, where medical and legal procedures were completed before it was handed over to her relatives for her last rites.
