Judges barred from displaying green plates, official symbols on private vehicles

LAHORE: District and Sessions Judge Lahore Tariq Khurshid Khawaja has issued a major directive prohibiting judicial officers from displaying green registration plates or blue lights on their personal vehicles.

According to the directive, judicial officers will not be allowed to use green registration plates or any number plate that gives the impression that their privately owned vehicles are official government vehicles.

The sessions judge observed that following the monetisation of official vehicles, some privately owned cars were giving the appearance of government vehicles.

The directive also prohibits judges from displaying the Lahore High Court or district judiciary monogram on their personal vehicles.

Judicial officers have further been barred from displaying official insignia, flags or any wording suggesting that their vehicles have official status.

The use of blue lights, beacons, revolving lights or flashers on personal vehicles has also been prohibited.

The sessions judge warned that any violation of the directive would be taken seriously.

Any violation by a judicial officer will be reported to the relevant authority for appropriate action.
