A man has been arrested following an incident involving alleged misconduct towards police officers during a snap-checking operation in Karachi's Defence Phase 7 area, officials said.
According to police, the suspect — reported to be the son of a female police officer — was taken into custody after the altercation.
A vehicle bearing an official number plate, which was being used by the accused, has also been seized.
Authorities confirmed that departmental action has been initiated against police guards present in the vehicle, while the conduct of officers stationed at the checkpoint is also under review.
An inquiry into the incident has been launched, with the Superintendent of Police (SP) Clifton appointed as the investigating officer. Officials reiterated that relatives of police personnel are not authorised to use government-issued vehicles.
A case has been registered at the Defence police station on behalf of the state. Charges include interference in official duties, issuing threats, and other related offences, police said.
