Minor girl's body found dumped in drain after alleged sexual assault in Karachi's Liaquatabad

A minor girl's body was found in a drain in Karachi’s Liaquatabad area on Wednesday evening. The five-year-old had allegedly been subjected to "sexual assault" before being murdered, according to the police.
The police said the body of a minor girl, aged between 5-7 years, seemed to be at least 24-48 hours old.
The girl was a resident of Sikandar Goth of Sachal area and went missing on Tuesday.
The victim's body was found near the drain located in Liaquatabad B Area and was subsequently taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to uncover the cause of death.
Chief Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Tariq stated, “Physical findings suggest that the girl was subjected to sexual violence,” while samples were sent to the library to determine the cause of death.

A city-wide message was also broadcast on the police control to inquire about any reports of missing or kidnapped girls in the city.
According to the victim's family, CCTV footage of the area showed a woman walking away with their daughter.
Police said that the girl's body was unrecognisable, but her sister identified it from her hair.
The case of her disappearance was registered at the relevant police station; however, the police avoided taking any legal steps as an official said they were waiting for the medical results to initiate formal legal action.
