Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will resume direct flights to London after a suspension of six years, providing a welcome relief for Pakistanis living in the UK and abroad.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the airline will operate its first direct flight from Islamabad to London on March 29, followed by the start of direct Lahore-London flights on March 30.
Initially, PIA will operate four direct weekly flights to London, with three direct flights from Islamabad and one direct flight from Lahore, which will operate on Boeing 777 aircraft. All PIA direct flights will land at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4.
"After a gap of six years, flight operations to London are being restored," said the PIA spokesperson. "Pakistan International Airlines has a relationship of over 70 years with the London route, which is also one of our earliest international routes." With the start of direct PIA flights, the total weekly flight operations of PIA to the UK will increase to seven.
Before suspending direct flights in 2020, PIA was operating 10 weekly direct flights between Pakistan and London. The PIA spokesperson said that the direct flights to London will increase in line with the demand.
