JIT to probe Abbottabad doctor's kidnap, murder case

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has ordered the formation of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate the murder of Dr Warda Mushtaq, a female doctor killed in Abbottabad.
CM Afridi took notice of the high-profile case and directed the chief secretary to immediately constitute the JIT. The team will include a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officer, and other relevant officials.
The chief minister instructed the police to utilise all available resources and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice without delay.
Meanwhile, KP Health Minister Khaliq-ur-Rehman visited Dr Warda’s residence to offer condolences to the family. He assured the bereaved family that those responsible would face strict punishment and pledged a full inquiry into the allegations raised by the victim’s relatives.

The killing has sparked a wave of unrest in Abbottabad, with residents demanding a transparent investigation and swift justice. Protest demonstrations were held in the city, where participants called for exemplary punishment for the culprits.
The police have said that the doctor was allegedly murdered by her friend Rida and her accomplices over gold worth around Rs30 million.
Meanwhile, the victim’s brother-in-law accused the police of negligence, claiming that timely action could have saved her life. Family members also said that the suspects had displayed suspicious behavior before the murder, but their concerns were not taken seriously by authorities.
