A major breakthrough has been made in the investigation into the murder of Dr Sarang Memon, who was shot dead near Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi, with police recovering the vehicle used in the attack.

According to investigators, the assailants had rented the car from the Malir area to carry out the crime.

Two suspects involved in the incident have been identified, and raids are being conducted to arrest them.

Officials also said that efforts are underway to trace the rickshaw driver who was transporting Dr Sarang and his wife at the time of the attack.

Investigators confirmed that the widow’s initial statement has been recorded, but no evidence of personal enmity or financial dispute has emerged so far.

She told police that Dr Sarang worked at two different hospitals in Gulistan-e-Johar and Korangi.

Authorities added that the family has yet to fully cooperate with the investigation following the burial.

It is worth noting that unidentified gunmen shot and killed Dr Sarang two days ago on Shahrah-e-Faisal.

According to police, he was travelling in a rickshaw with his wife when the attackers, who had been following them in a car, opened fire before fleeing the scene.
