Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman, the spiritual leader of the Sarwari Jamaat and a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Member of National Assembly (MNA), has made a public appeal to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir to address the escalating issue of banditry in Sindh.
Speaking at an Independence Day ceremony in Matiari, Zaman expressed deep concern over the prevailing "dacoit raj" (rule of bandits) in the province, particularly in upper Sindh, where he claimed that people could no longer move freely due to the threat posed by these criminal gangs.
Zaman criticized the Sindh government's inability to effectively combat the rise in crime, particularly the activities of the notorious Katcha dacoits.
He openly acknowledged that the provincial authorities seemed powerless in the face of this growing menace.
As a result, he urged the COAS to personally intervene, visit Sindh, and take control of the situation to restore peace and security in the region.
He emphasized that the people of Matiari, despite their loyalty to the PPP, felt increasingly neglected, and he stressed the importance of the armed forces' role in maintaining the country's stability.
The deteriorating law and order situation in Sindh, especially in the Katcha area, has become a significant concern, with frequent reports of abductions for ransom and the police struggling to maintain control.
