A Karachi man has emotionally spoken about the close bond his family developed with their sacrificial animal, lovingly named “Babloo”, saying the animal became like a member of the household over time.

Speaking to Dialogue Pakistan under its series Qurbani Aik Ehsaas, the man said that although the animal could not speak, it understood the affection shown by the family and responded warmly to their attention.

Recalling the attachment formed by his young grandchildren, he explained that children aged between three and five would constantly hug the animal, play around him and repeatedly call out his name.

According to the man, Babloo would react whenever family members called for him from the rooftop or courtyard, which further strengthened the emotional connection within the household.

He shared that the animal was weak and small when first brought home, but gradually grew healthy and strong through proper care, good nutrition and constant attention.

The family also arranged a sheltered area to protect the animal from rain, cold weather and extreme heat, ensuring it remained comfortable throughout the year.

Speaking about the relationship between humans and animals, he said animals respond positively to kindness and affection, while harsh treatment only creates fear.

He admitted that sacrificing an animal after caring for it so deeply is emotionally challenging, particularly for children who become attached over time.

Recalling previous experiences, he said memories of earlier sacrificial animals still move him emotionally, especially the moments when children in the family would cry during the sacrifice.

He added that raising an animal personally before sacrifice gives the act greater spiritual and emotional significance, describing it as a meaningful expression of devotion and care.
