The Rawalpindi Session Court has sentenced four individuals to death for inciting religious animosity through social media platforms.

The convicts, identified as Rana Usman, Ashfaq Ali, Salman Sajjad, and Wajid Ali, received the capital punishment after being found guilty of offenses under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

The ruling was delivered by Additional Session Judge M Tariq Ayub. In addition to the death sentence, the court imposed a fine of one million rupees on each convict and mandated a ten-year prison term.

The case against the defendants was initiated in October 2022 under Section XI of the PECA Act.
