The Sindh Police’s Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) raided the Bait-ul-Anam Apartment in North Karachi, where Sarim’s family resides, and detained two suspects.

According to police sources, the CIA team arrived with sniffer dogs and conducted a thorough search of the premises, including empty flats. A bedsheet was taken from one flat for forensic analysis.

Samples of various items were collected from the flat, while sniffer dogs were also used to check old, parked vehicles in the area. The operation was conducted in the early hours of Monday at around 3 am.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and other senior officers.

Investigators suspect that Sarim did not leave the apartment complex after his disappearance until his body was discovered.

Seven-year-old Sarim went missing on January 7 from his apartment. He had gone to study at the madrassah inside the mosque within the apartment complex with his elder brother.

However, while his brother returned home, Sarim did not.

At the time of Sarim’s disappearance, there was no electricity in the area, preventing the police from obtaining CCTV footage.

In a tragic development, the body of seven-year-old Sarim, who went missing 11 days ago, was discovered in an underground water tank on Saturday near his home in North Karachi.

“The family identified his body by his clothing; however, the police took the body into custody to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death,” stated a police spokesperson.

Subsequently, the police launched a probe into the matter.

Earlier, the parents of Sarim, who was allegedly kidnapped on January 7, had claimed to have received messages from an international number demanding ransom in exchange for their son's release.

However, it was later discovered that the miscreant had a history of defrauding others through fake calls.
